Book description
Tudor Interludes draws on ten plays, either complete or in extract, which have been chosen to represent the loosely defined dramatic form known as the "interlude". Interludes preceded the full flowering of the Elizabethan theatre and are thought to have been designed for banquets or other forms of entertainment.
Both popular and aristocratic specimens have survived, and each style is represented her. The plays include Fulgens and Lucres, Youth, The Play of the Wether, Wit and Science, Respublica, Apius and Virginia and Like Will to Like. The interludes have been slightly modernized and are printed with extensive glossaries.
