Book description
The Scottish clans and the tartans which are their symbol both grew out of the Celtic past and flourished in the late Middle Ages. Decimated first by interclan warfare, then by the brutal repression of the English and finally by the Highland Clearances, the clans have nevertheless survived. The clans still provide a real sense of identity for their members and their tartans have become very fashionable.
The histories of over 100 Scottish clans, together with full colour illustrations of their tartans. Crest, motto and Gaelic name given for each clan. Includes list of clan septs.
