Book description
The inhabitants of quiet, tree-lined Mulberry Lane take a keen interest in their neighborhood. So when the house at number 15 comes onto the market, they naturally hope for a pleasant family who will fit in nicely. Instead they get a half-way house for young offenders. Brian, the warden of the house, tries to persuade his new neighbors to accept the scheme. He wants to be part of the community – in particular, he wants to get to know Karen, a single mother struggling to bring up her two young children.
