Book description
Intended as an introduction to European painting this book is a brief history of the National Gallery where nearly all the great artists from the 14th to the 20th century are exhibited. Particular note is made in the text of the most important acquisitions in the collection. Following this are 250 paintings, arranged by school, with a short commentary by the former Director of the Gallery.
