This book brings together essays on the major English poets of the Romantic Age. The emphasis throughout the collection is critical, with historical and biographical materials included only where they are relevant to the analysis of the poems. All the major critical points of view on the Romantic poets are represented; a number of the essays were written in express opposition to each other. Among the selections are essays by Carlos Baker, Lionel Trilling, T. S. Eliot, C. S. Lewis, and Douglas Bush.
