Book description
In 1763, the young James Boswell was introduced to the poet, lexicographer, critic and moralist Samuel Johnson. Here he records the many meetings they enjoyed and the lively conversation that flowed in London’s taverns and coffee-houses. Despite Johnson’s reputation for abrasiveness and his much documented antipathy towards the Scots, the two developed an affectionate friendship. Meeting Dr Johnson is taken from Boswell’s biography, The Life of Samuel Johnson.
