Enid Blyton wrote several hundred books for children, including poems and plays. The Mystery of the Disappearing Cat is one of a series of mystery books. Larry, Daisy, Pip Bets, Fatty and Buster the dog are the main characters.
The story starts when Fatty comes home from school dressed in a telegraph boy disguise. He does this because he likes disguises and wants to try his new disguise. The children are all meeting together at the end of the school term. The children all exchange news and Bets tells them that someone has moved in next door to her. The lady who lives there is called Lady Candoling and she has seven cats. The most valuable cat is called Dark Queen.
The children make friends the lady’s gardeners boy, called Luke. He works for the gardener Mr Tupping who is horrible and mardy. One Monday morning when Luke is working by the cat house Dark Queen disappears – everybody suspects Luke. Mr Goon the policeman gets onto the mystery but the Five Findouters are on it to….
