THE GAZETTEER
          The entries in the gazetteer cover the mainland of Britain – England, Scotland and Wales – and the offshore islands: Anglesey, the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly, the Inner and Outer Hebrides, the Orkneys, the Shatlands, and several smaller islands, but not the Channel Islands or Ireland.
          Places in the gazetteer are, with certain exceptions, listed alphabetically throughout.

         Within the gazetteer there are a number of suggested tours, each with a route map.

TOWNS SPECIALLY FEATURED
          A number of major towns are specially featured, with town plans. The town plans cover the town centres, places of interest mentioned in the text are shown on the plans.
